Direct sampling with a step function

چکیده
The direct sampling method proposed by Walker et al. (JCGS 2011) can generate draws from weighted distributions possibly having intractable normalizing constants. may be of interest as a tool in situations which require drawing an unfamiliar distribution. However, the original algorithm have difficulty producing some situations. present work restricts attention to univariate setting where weight function and base distribution target density meet certain criteria. Here, variant sampler is uses step approximate particular augmented random variable on based. Knots for placed strategically ensure approximation close underlying density. Variates then generated reliably while largely avoiding need manual tuning or rejections. A rejection based allows exact with lower probability exchange increased computation. Several applications illustrate method: generating Conway-Maxwell Poisson distribution, Gibbs dependence parameter effects model conditional autoregression structure, degrees-of-freedom regression t-distributed errors.

OPTIMAL DESIGN OF SHELLS WITH STEP-FUNCTION DISTRIBUTION OF THICKNESS
The paper is concerned with a methodology of optimal design of shells of minimum weight with strength, stability and strain constraints. Stress and strain state of the shell is determined by Galerkin method in the mixed finite element formulation within the geometrically nonlinear theory. The analysis of the effectiveness of different optimization algorithms to solve the set problem is given. T...
متن کاملThe effect of Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on the lower limb function with & without Step exercise in chronic stroke patients: a randomized control clinical trial
Introduction: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of one-session transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) of cerebral cortex with and without step practice on foot function in patients with chronic stroke. Materials and Methods: It was an interventional and clinical trial study. Forty patients with chronic stroke were randomly assigned into four groups, Sham tDCS, tDCS, t...
متن کاملAdaptive Line Enhancement Using a Parallel IIR Filter with A Step-By-step Algorithm
A step-by-step algorithm for enhancement of periodic signals that are highly corrupted by additive uncorrelated white gausian noise is proposed. In each adaptation step a new parallel second-order section is added to the previous filters. Every section has only one adjustable parameter, i.e., the center frequency of the self-tuning filter. The bandwidth and the convergence factor of each secti...

متن کاملOn-Line Policy Gradient Estimation with Multi-Step Sampling
In this note, we discuss the problem of the sample-path-based (on-line) performance gradient estimation for Markov systems. The existing on-line performance gradient estimation algorithms generally require a standard importance sampling assumption. When the assumption does not hold, these algorithms may lead to poor estimates for the gradients. We show that this assumption can be relaxed and pr...
